We will be staying in Deira but happy to get a taxi to somewhere for the night. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend some clubs that would be worth checking out. I have looked on TimeOut as suggested on an older post but the info seems pretty vague and it references a lot of quite exclusive bars that I'm not sure are easy to get into. Plus I would be interested to hear first hand from anyone who has experience of going out in Dubai.
Also whether you can turn up on the night or whether you book tickets like some of the bigger clubs here. Also I've heard that in the clubs people tend to dress you would in clubs here in the UK, but as we will need to travel by taxi is it acceptable to wear short dresses etc if its clear you will be spending the evening in a club environment?
Most nightclubs in Dubai tend to be in or attached to hotels and the more popular areas tend to The Jumeirah end of Dubai Jumeirah Beach, The Palm, Tecom and the marina have a few popular bars. People do get dressed up for a lot of the clubs, if you feel uncomfortable Deira is a traditional area so you may not want to wander around in clubbing attire get your hotel to call a taxi for you. You should not need to book and generally girls in their mid 20's are not likely to be turned away. If you fancy a night not too far, then Cuba rooftop bar at Jumeirah Creekside bar is pretty decent for a few drinks.
Night life in Dubai is good. What is best is difficult to say as it is very personal. According to Time out this are the top ten: timeoutdubai. Clubbing in Dubai is not cheap, as all night clubs must be legally linked to a hotel to get an alcohol license.
As mentioned above, there are a lots of other clubs, but you clearly do not want to get in there. They are catering more for the needs of single males.
